The restaurant that spawned an empire, the Far East meets the West Side here in a fascinating culinary journey. With 40 dishes on its menu, the perennial favorites include Tempura Sashimi with hot mustard champagne sauce, Lobster Pancakes stir-fried with wild mushrooms, Lamb Spareribs with plum and sesame glaze, and Crackling Calamari Salad with lime miso dressing, among numerous others. For additional fresh flavor, we recommend the spicy beef & scallion dumplings, some of the best we've had outside Sichuan. The Drunken Chicken is quite clever, enhanced even further by the crispy spinach and wasabi mashed potatoes. Desserts are flashy and enormous, but not entirely satisfying.
