[ + ]entity and race that rule our world.Futuristic Ancestry: Warping Matter and Space-time(s) is a kaleidoscopic journey into Afro-diasporic history, race, and revolution, invoking Mother Earth and Ntjam’s own life experiences in a hallucinogenic multi-sensory experience.Ntjam’s work is multidimensional, exploring themes of Afro-diasporic history and ancestry via biomorphic avatars and beings which appear extraterrestrial. Featured in the exhibition, her 19-minute film Matter Gone Wild is a poetic audiovisual exploration into revolution and systematic oppression through the lens of three distinct characters, each one residing in an psychedelic corner of some otherworldly, unfamiliar multiverse.

Best known for his sculptures and design collaborations with brands including Tiffany & Co and Hot Wheels, Arsham has taken photographs since he was 11 years old, making it an essen... [ + ]tial component of his practice that has fundamentally informed his work as a sculptor and designer.Arsham’s photographs are primarily black and white, which create a unifying aesthetic. The images take viewers on a journey alongside the artist’s travels and experiences with a focus on the juxtaposition of natural and urban environments. His images of skylines and nightscapes bring light, the passage of time, and negative space to the forefront. Visitors will encounter never before seen photographs alongside Arsham’s sculptures that together show the broad impact photography has on the artist’s full practice.

Illuminating moments of harmony and recovery while never shying away from humankind’s tendency towards destruction, this show shepherds observers through scenes depicting the impact of urbanization and climate change on worldwide ecosystems.Several artists’ work honors the picturesque sceneries and beautiful foliage our planet offers, while others explicitly highlight the damage for which people are responsible, and others yet fall somewhere in the middle, posing a question: where, if at all, do humans belong in nature? At once celebratory and contemplative, Human / Nature is a call for thoughtful reflection, evaluation, and appreciation.
